Williams Votes to Support our Military and Vets

September 13, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin), who represents Fort Hood, voted in favor of the Conference Report to Accompany H.R. 5895, the Energy and Water, Legislative Branch, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act.

"Today's vote was an important step forward for our military and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). ‘The Great Place' will only continue to be great if we provide it with the resources necessary to support our warfighters. I was proud to work alongside Fort Hood leadership, and my colleagues in Congress, to secure significant funds to improve operations, enhance safety, and rebuild infrastructure for service members and their families.

"Additionally, we have allocated the largest dollar amount in history for the VA to modernize the Department - we want to ensure your taxpayer dollars are being used effectively to maximize benefits to our vets. This will also advance veteran-centric health care, such as the MISSION Act, that will allow veterans to receive timely access to the quality care they need and deserve. I am proud to have voted in favor of this critical legislation and look forward to watching our military and the VA operate more efficiently."
