Rep. Williams Grills CFPB Official Over Consumer Lending
February 12, 2016
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) questioned the Acting Deputy Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) David Silberman during a House Financial Services subcommittee hearing Thursday.
“You know who makes a good deal?” asked Williams. “It’s competition. It’s reputation. It’s the private sector. The strength of the economy and the American dream are not delivered by you. The very people you are trying to save, you are hurting.”
The CFPB, created in 2011 under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, has implemented arbitrary guidelines that have limited individuals’ access to credit.
