Second Amendment
I will forever be a champion for the Second Amendment – the right of law-abiding citizens to bear arms is a Constitutional liberty that we must protect. That's why I proudly oppose all government regulations that infringe upon your rights and oppose universal background checks, buy-backs, assault weapons bans, and red flag laws.
Some of my work to uphold the Second Amendment includes:
- Introduced the Equal Shot Act, which prohibits the Small Business Administration (SBA) and its Administrator from discriminating against firearm-related businesses in the distribution of financial assistance (H.R. 4474).
- Introduced H.Res. 339, a resolution that commends President Trump for his work to protect the Second Amendment and eliminate all infringements on that right carried out under the Biden Administration.
- Cosponsored H.R. 3770, the FIREARM Act, which provides protections for law-abiding Federal Firearms License (FFL) holders – granting them the ability to correct minor clerical mistakes and insulating them from ATF retribution.
- Cosponsored H.R. 631, the PARTS Act, which redefines ‘silencer’ to focus on complete devices and a single principal component rather than broad terms in a silencer. The bill also streamlines the purchase of consumable silencer parts, such as wipes, without requiring additional ATF paperwork.
- Cosponsored H.R. 38, the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, to make sure all Americans who can legally conceal carry can do so across state lines.
- I am a cosponsor of legislation that protects sportsmen's and hunters' rights to use firearms on public lands and for sport (H.R. 877 and H.R. 1222).
- Voted Against Enhanced background checks (H.R. 8 and H.R. 1112) that would be burdensome to law-abiding citizens expressing their 2nd Amendment right.
- Spoke out against assault weapons bans because many guns look like military style weapons, but use small-caliber ammo and are popular for hunting. We shouldn't be banning certain guns based on appearance.
