Economy
America does not have a revenue problem - we have a spending problem. Decades of reckless policies have pushed our national debt past $37 trillion and fueled inflation that is squeezing families every day. This runaway spending is now one of the greatest threats to our national security.
President Trump and Congressional Republicans have taken action to turn things around - cutting taxes for hardworking Americans, lowering energy costs, and bringing jobs home through stronger domestic manufacturing.
But Washington must do more to live within its means. I am committed to fighting for responsible spending cuts so that families never have to choose between keeping the lights on or putting food on the table.
Some of my work includes:
- Introduced the Freedom to Compete Act, H.R. 4869, which requires all federal agencies to identify and rescind or modify regulations that limit competition or create barriers to entry for new market participants.
- Supported the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, H.R. 1, which delivers pro-growth tax relief, cuts wasteful spending, and removes burdensome regulations to lower costs, strengthen Main Street businesses, and boost American manufacturing.
- Co-led and supported multiple Congressional Review Acts to overturn burdensome and harmful Biden Administration era rules and regulations.
- Supported President Trump’s tax incentives for immediate expensing, R&D, and domestic manufacturing, fueling expansion and innovation across Texas.

Representing Fort Hood – one of the largest military bases in the world – is the greatest honor I have as the Representative of Texas' 25th Congressional District. Known as ‘The Great Place,' it is the gold standard for the U.S. Army. It is composed of some of the bravest and most selfless people we have in this country. These men and women are not only an asset to Central Texas, they are vital to achieving the United States' national security strategy.
Dear Friends,
After a delay in the voting schedule due to Hurricane Irma, we are headed back up to Washington today to get back to work. Here are some updates from last week as well as a glance into this week:
Hurricane Harvey Relief Update
Dear Friends,
We are back in Washington this week after the conclusion of the August district work period. I'd like to take a moment to share with you what my team and I have been up to:
In the past five weeks, we have crisscrossed the 13 counties in our district - from Tarrant County in the north, down to Hays County in the south - which includes much of the Texas Hill Country and Austin. The August District Work Period is my favorite time of the year because I get to go back to Texas and meet with our constituents to discuss what is important to you all.

Congressman Roger Williams told Burnet County elected officials Thursday, Aug. 17, he wants to see Congress enact tax reform that would help their constituents where they need it most — by putting money back in their pockets.
Williams met with Burnet County elected officials at the Highlander restaurant in Burnet to discuss several important issues.
We've got the highest tax rate in the world and we wonder why jobs leave here, people leave here and they don't come back and so forth," Williams said. "It's because were not competitive at all.

Congressman Roger Williams (R-Austin) paid a visit to Copperas Cove on Tuesday afternoon, during which local business owners, along with elected officials and others in the community had the chance to hear what's been happening in Washington and ask him questions directly.
Questions concerned small business loans, personal income tax changes, along with a request for help for CCISD from Joan Manning, CCISD board of trustees president. Manning reminded Williams about CCISD's loss of Impact Aid that the district has had to deal with over the past several years.
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin) took to the House floor on Tuesday to recognize Rural America's impact on our nation.
Williams' remarks are below:
"Mr. Speaker, I'd like to take this time to recognize rural America and the impact it has on our nation.
"Rural America makes up 72 percent of our country's land and roughly 46.2 million Americans call it home.
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin), vice chair on the Subcommittee on Monetary Policy and Trade on the House Committee on Financial Services, released the following statement Tuesday in response to the passage or H.J. H. J. Res 111 CRA Joint Resolution Disapproving the CFPB Anti-Arbitration Rule
Mr. Speaker, a few weeks ago, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau implemented their most recent arbitration rule. While this rule claims consumer protection, it does the very opposite. It will cost Americans more of their hard-earned money and time.
The CFPB is arguably the most powerful, yet unaccountable, government agency in United States history.
By intentional design, the CFPB is not accountable to Congress or the taxpayer.
Seven years after its launch in 2010, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act has done nothing for American taxpayers besides provide 2,300 pages of impulsive and deceiving legislation. This disaster of a law has unfairly blanketed our entire financial system with more than 400 overreaching and costly mandates.
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin), vice chair on the Subcommittee on Monetary Policy and Trade on the House Committee on Financial Services, released the following statement Tuesday in response to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's (CFPB), final arbitration rule:
