Congressman Williams Leads Letter to AG Garland Opposing the DOJ’s Lawsuit Against the State of Texas

January 24, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) joined by 20 members of the Texas Congressional Delegation wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland expressing concern and opposition to the Department of Justice’s lawsuit against the State of Texas in relation to Senate Bill 4.

“Against all odds, Texas and Texans have stepped up in the fight to secure our border,” said Congressman Williams. “If President Biden is not going to take responsibility for the invasion of our country, Texas must be allowed to protect itself without fear of retaliation. I, along with the members of the Texas Delegation, ask that the DOJ reconsider its harmful suit, but most importantly, it’s past time they do their job and secure our border.”
