Rep. Williams Welcomes Tesla to Austin
AUSTIN, TX – Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX-25) today applauded Tesla’s announcement of the construction of their new Gigafactory in Travis County. The $1.1 billion assembly plant will employ 5,000 people and is expected to generate over $1 billion in capital investment.
“Texas is the most pro-business state in our nation and I am very pleased Tesla has chosen to build its new Gigafactory in Austin. We have low taxes, fewer regulations and more freedom for entrepreneurs than anywhere else in the United States. Not only will this investment generate even greater growth for our state and the Central Texas area, it will create thousands of jobs and ensure that we remain the strongest economy in the country.”
Congressman Williams in May wrote a letter to Mr. Elon Musk inviting him to move Tesla’s California headquarters to Central Texas.
Congressman Roger Williams represents the 25th Congressional District of Texas and serves as a member of the House Committee on Financial Services.
