Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25), along with Congressman John Carter (TX-31), sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel demanding the Department of Defense (DoD) to follow through with a law requiring a Purple Heart review. The 2014 National Defense Authorization Act mandates that Congress receive a report of the review of the Purple Heart award for the victims of the 2009 terrorist attack on Fort Hood no later than 180 days after the law was enacted.

Today, Congressman Roger Williams (RTX-25) responded to President Obama's request for support of the Texas delegation in the U.S. House of Representatives by inviting the President to meet with the Texas congressmen.

Williams states that President Obama differs from the Texas delegation in their end goal for solving the immigration crisis unfolding at the U.S.-Mexico border. President Obama has asked for $3.7 billion to expedite the legal process, while Williams supports efforts to seal the border first.

The immigration crisis unfolding in Texas and the southern border is a tragedy – one that presents complex issues with limited options. Since last October, more than 180,000 people, nearly one-quarter who are unaccompanied children, have crossed the Southwest border from Central America. That's a 99% increase from the previous year, and Border Patrol data indicates it has soared over 1,000% since 2009.

On Wednesday, June 25^th, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., the staff of Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) will host the monthly District Office Hours at the Hays County Office Building at 195 Roger Hanks Parkway in Dripping Springs.

Each month, Williams' staff visits different communities throughout the 25^th Congressional District to assist residents with federal issues or government agencies – such as Medicare, Veterans Affairs, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration, Social Security, or the Internal Revenue Service – in an area most convenient to them.

Today, Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX25) accused President Obama and the Justice Department of pursuing a socialist agenda through the program "Operation Choke Point." The program, which began in 2013, pushes banks to terminate services for certain legal businesses and industries which the Obama administration deems objectionable.

Last night, H.R. 3060, a bill to designate the Post Office in Burleson, TX, as the "Sergeant William Moody Post Office Building" was signed into law by the President. Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) introduced the bill in August 2013.

Today, the House passed H.R. 4435, the National Defense Authorization Act, to provide necessary authority to fund the military. Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) spoke on the House floor in support of the bill which contains a provision he helped craft that would make the victims of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting eligible to receive the Purple Heart under newly passed criteria.

Members of the Texas delegation today called for an Inspector General investigation into allegations that Veterans Affairs officials in Central Texas manipulated medical appointment data in order to conceal long wait times for veterans seeking care.
