Two Washington lawmakers who represent the Killeen area have said they will not support funding the federal government if Congress does not take away funding from Planned Parenthood.
The federal government faces a possible partial shutdown if Congress does not pass a funding bill by Oct. 1.
According to the Associated Press, a band of conservatives, including Sen. Ted Cruz and Rep. Roger Williams, R-Austin, say they will not back legislation financing government agencies unless the block blocks federal payments to Planned Parenthood.
WASHINGTON–Sen. Ted Cruz said he wants you to do more than honor the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks on their 14th anniversary.
"[It] should be more than a day of reflection and remembrance," said Cruz in a statement distributed by his presidential campaign. "It should be an opportunity to resolve that we will not allow political correctness or complacency to lull us into the same false sense of security that al Qaida exploited fourteen years ago."
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) today released the following statement 14 years after the September 11th attacks on the homeland:
"Today we remember the innocent American lives that were lost in a cowardly act of hatred. We pray for them and their loved ones. The attacks in New York, Washington and southwestern Pennsylvania united our nation. Heroes were born. From the passengers on Flight 93 to the brave men and women in uniform who remain abroad, the United States has defied those who attempted to break our spirit."
In 1938, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain led a multi-nation effort to allow Adolf Hitler to seize a part of Czechoslovakia. The Munich Agreement, as it was called, was signed to avoid what the prime minister believed was the only alternative: war.
The following day, Chamberlain applauded the deal in a speech ironically titled "Peace for Our Time." He promised a renewed friendship between Germany and Britain — "a desire of our two peoples never to go to war with one another again."
WASHINGTON D.C. - Congressman Roger Williams has signed a letter to House leadership stating he will not support a government funding bill that contains funding for Planned Parenthood.
The letter, authored by Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.), was sent to Speaker of the House John Boehner, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Majority Whip Steve Scalise.
"The recent allegations against Planned Parenthood are morally reprehensible," said Williams. "There is no justification for the American people to finance an organization that has such disregard for human life."

WASHINGTON (September 10, 2015) The Iran nuclear deal survived a key vote Thursday in the U.S. Senate, in a victory for President Barack Obama.
Democrats held together to block a resolution of disapproval against the deal.
The vote was 58-42 in favor of proceeding, but 60 votes were needed for the resolution to advance to a final vote.
The outcome means the disapproval resolution will not reach Mr. Obama's desk, and the nuclear deal will move forward unchecked by Congress.

House Ways and Means Chairman Paul D. Ryan, R-Wis., will face competition from conservative rivals as he tries to develop a plan to fund highways with revenue from repatriating $2.1 trillion in corporate earnings held offshore at lower rates than envisioned in the administration's fiscal 2016 budget.
United States Congressman Roger Williams is home from Washington, D.C., and is spending his time in Texas visiting small businesses around U.S. House District 25.
Williams and members of his staff were in Hamilton last Wednesday to visit with the management team and employees of Pederson's Natural Farms.
"I'm one of the few in congress that actually owns a business," said Williams. "We're out visiting small businesses with the message that our office is working to jumpstart America, and that begins with helping our businesses grow and succeed."
