WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) today released the following statement after the White House this morning announced President Barack Obama’s $4.1 trillion budget for Fiscal Year 2017.
Deficits are down and the stock market is up – that premature victory chant by President Barack Obama couldn’t be further from the truth today. The Dow Jones Industrial Average has plunged more than 2,000 points from its high, and according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the federal government is projected to spend 544 billion dollars more than it will take in this fiscal year alone.
This week, President Obama is going around the country to re-hash some of the themes from his State of the Union. I have a better idea: how about he start apologizing for the last seven years?
I’ve decided to help the president by highlighting some of the lowlights that he should address. I’ve also taken the liberty of assisting the president’s speech writers by putting this in a speech format for him:

The nation's largest gun rights organization declined Wednesday to send representatives to a nationally televised town hall with President Obama on gun violence, calling the prime-time event a publicity stunt by the White House to promote his latest gun control moves.
"The National Rifle Association sees no reason to participate in a public relations spectacle organized by the White House," NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam told CNN, which is moderating the event live at 8 p.m. Thursday evening in Fairfax, Virginia.
President Barack Obama’s latest call for state and local governments to enact more controls on weapons purchases at gun shows and elsewhere is getting the same response it has for years: Most elected officials in Texas won’t budge.
And they’re liable to fire back, as they did Tuesday when Texas Republicans began shooting holes in Obama’s gun control plan that he hopes will curb gun violence and prevent some future mass shootings.
Texas Republicans said the president is making the wrong move and clearly exceeding his authority.

I have always said that I believe the role of government is to defend the borders, build infrastructure, collect our taxes and then get out of the way. Under President Obama, we have witnessed an executive branch that refuses to enforce immigration law but has expanded government like never before while our roads and bridges crumble beneath us.
