Texas Republican Rep. Roger Williams has found another way to bring his love of sports to his work in Congress — this time teaming up with Alabama Democratic Rep. Terri A. Sewell to launch the College Football Caucus.

"Between the baseball caucus, football caucus and coach of the baseball team, guys are starting to call me the athletics director of Congress," Williams said.

FORT HOOD — A set of barracks that house about 2,000 Fort Hood soldiers will soon see $61.5 million renovation.

After working with Army leadership, U.S. Reps. John R. Carter, R-Round Rock, and Roger Williams, R-Austin, announced Tuesday that Fort Hood will receive the funding to sustain, restore and modernize barracks units at the Great Place.

A Republican lawmaker is getting creative with his outrage over the Obama administration's $1.7 billion payment to Iran that coincided with the release of American prisoners.

Texas Rep. Roger Williams went on a tweet storm Wednesday about all the things $1.7 billion could buy instead of the payment to Iran.

Williams ended the rant saying the United States owes "nothing" to Iran because the country "is a state sponsor of terrorism that imprisons Americans and taunts our Navy."

Congressman Roger Williams (R-Austin) met with community and business leaders during a visit to Lampasas on Thursday.

Williams toured the Ajinomoto Windsor plant on the downtown square – one of the largest private employers in the city.

The congressman met with leaders of the food manufacturing company as well as representatives of the Lampasas Economic Development Corp.

Everyone agrees that the appreciation now being shown to military veterans of the Vietnam War era is long overdue — and well-deserved.

More than 100 Erath County Vietnam veterans gathered Monday afternoon for a town hall meeting at Paradigm in Stephenville to be honored with a commemorative U.S. Vietnam War lapel pin and an official certificate of appreciation.

The pins and certificates are to recognize the service and sacrifices made by all U.S. military members who served in active duty during the Vietnam era.

COPPERAS COVE — During a tour of Central Texas this week that includes stops in Killeen, Gatesville and Copperas Cove, U.S. Rep, Roger Williams, R-Austin, said the American economy has not yet recovered.

“Today, there are 47 million people on food stamps, 15 percent of people in poverty, another 15 percent underemployed and 52 percent of college graduates that will be un- or underemployed for the next four years,” Williams told about 20 people Thursday during a Rotary Club meeting. “That’s not an economy.”

COPPERAS COVE, TX (KXXV) - A Texas Congressman wants to make sure Fort Hood soldiers transitioning out of the military have good jobs waiting for them as civilians.

Congressman Roger Williams talked about many issues at the Copperas Cove Rotary Club Thursday, but made sure to speak on one government agency he thinks would be a good fit for former soldiers.

Williams believes that the economy has to be stable in order to accommodate these soldiers.

U.S. Representative Roger Williams, a former TCU baseball player, will be honored at the 25th anniversary of the Bobby Bragan Lifetime Achievement Award Gala on Nov. 2 at the Fort Worth Club.

Williams has been the U. S. Representative for Texas’s 25th Congressional District since 2013. Previously, he served under Governor Rick Perry as Secretary of State of Texas from November 2004 to July 2007.

Williams played baseball at TCU from 1968 to 1971 and was an All-Southwest Conference selection as an outfielder his freshman year. He was named to TCU’s 1960s All-Decade Team.
