On Monday, August 5th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Burleson Senior Center, U.S. Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) along with Mayor Ken Shetter and the Burleson City Council, will announce their joint efforts to dedicate the Post Office facility at 232 Southwest Johnson Avenue in Burleson as the "Sergeant William Moody Post Office Building."

Today, U.S. Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) responded to a report revealing Department of Veteran Affairs Regional Offices (VAROs) did not accurately process 40 percent of the disability claims it received, including claims dealing with traumatic brain injuries. The report cites ineffective training and inexperienced staff among reasons for its poor performance. According to the report, problems with Waco’s VARO processing errors have worsened.

U.S. Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) issued the following statement after Attorney General Eric Holder announced he will again target Texas’ voting laws:

“It is evident that Attorney General Eric Holder and President Obama will stop at nothing to continue their assault on Texas. Their latest attempt to attack Texans’ voting rights and further target Texas completely undermines the Supreme Court and the will of the people. The lengths the Justice Department is willing to go in order to force its own agenda is astounding.”

Today, U.S. Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) released the following statement after Gov. Rick Perry signed into law House Bill 2, which protects unborn babies beyond the 20-week mark in pregnancy.

“Today marks a huge victory in Texas by standing up for the sanctity of life. I commend the hard work of the state legislators who put an end to the barbaric, unconscionable practice of aborting babies who are 20-plus weeks old. Every life is precious, and we have an obligation to protect it at every stage. ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.’ Jeremiah 1:5”

On the IRS: "The IRS certainly needs to be cut back and I propose we start with the elimination of the IRS. We need to begin to have dialogue on a fairer, flat tax that would downsize the entire revenue service and maybe pass tax collection onto another department.”
