U.S. Rep. Roger Williams, R-Austin, held a morning news conference at historic country dance hall the Broken Spoke in support of the federal Save Our Stages Act, which seeks to earmark $10 billion to help independent music venues survive the coronavirus pandemic.

Roger Williams on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Burnet County Sheriff's Office in Burnet. They praised the CARES Act, the Paycheck Protection Program, and other relief for those suffering financial stress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
AUSTIN, TX – Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX-25) today applauded a $102,045 grant awarded to the Travis County Sheriff's Office by the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ) Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office). The funding will be used to improve the delivery of and access to mental health and wellness services for law enforcement through training and technical assistance, demonstration projects, implementation of promising practices related to peer mentoring mental health and wellness, and suicide prevention programs.

Expanding Access to Telehealth Services
Telehealth access is critical now more than ever as medical professionals have largely adapted to screening and appointments via technology so they can continue caring for patients when face to face visits pose too high a health risk. In our rural areas, this is even more significant as remote visits can mean the difference between life and death when there isn't enough time to drive to a clinic or hospital.
Throughout the course of COVID-19, telehealth flexibilities have tremendously helped both patients and providers, allowing for greater access to care. This technology is crucial now more than ever as doctors and physicians have had to adapt to video screenings as opposed to face to face visits due to the virus.
AUSTIN, TX – Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX-25) today applauded $1.1 million in awards for The SAFE Alliance in Austin, TX from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). The organization will receive $450,000 from the Grants for Outreach and Services to Underserved Populations Program and $650,000 from the Justice for Families Program.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX-25) today introduced the Ensuring Telehealth Expansion Act to extend telehealth provisions in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Securities (CARES) Act through December 31, 2025. Currently, telehealth waivers and flexibilities are extended through December 31, 2021 under the CARES Act.
