WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin), who serves as the vice chair on the House Committee on Financial Services' Subcommittee on Monetary Policy and Trade, voted in favor of H.R. 3326, the World Bank Accountability Act, that passed the House today with a vote of 237-184.

Robert Fisher, the president and CEO of Tioga State Bank, testified in Congress on Tuesday on behalf of legislation to establish a more efficient financial regulatory regime that he said would strengthen local economic growth and job creation.

Speaking on behalf of the Independent Community Bankers of America, Fisher spoke to the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit to express the organization's support for several bills to promote tiered and community banking regulations, a news release stated.

On Friday, the Conference Committee on H.R. 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, released their unified version of the bill. We are expected to vote on it tomorrow, and I am more confident than ever that this bill will pass both the House and the Senate.

The treasury secretary would be required to report to Congress financial transactions related Iran's purchase of commercial passenger aircraft from U.S. manufacturers under a bill that the House of Representatives approved on Thursday.

Under the Obama administration's nuclear agreement with Iran, the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) authorized U.S. aircraft manufacturers to begin negotiations with Iran in March 2016. Since then, OFAC has permitted the sale of more than 200 aircraft.
