AUSTIN, TEXAS – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) today announced he has invited Texas Alliance for Life's Executive Director Joe Pojman, Ph.D., as his guest for the pope's address to Congress.

"I'm honored to have this opportunity to represent Texas Alliance for Life on this historic occasion," said Pojman.

Pope Francis, the first pope to address a joint session of Congress, will speak in the U.S. House of Representatives chamber Thursday morning.

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) addressed attendees at the 41st annual Independent Bankers Association of Texas convention in Galveston Monday.

Williams, a small business owner and member of the House Financial Services Committee, spoke on harmful federal policies affecting community banks and credit unions and the small business community and discussed his legislation designed to correct them.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) last evening joined Jon-David Wells on KSKY 660AM Dallas/ Fort Worth to discuss the Obama Administration's Iran deal and federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

"This deal is built on trust, and who in their right mind would trust the Iranians…who yell ‘death to America' and ‘death to Israel,'" said Williams. "We've sold future generations of Americans down the road."

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) today signed a letter sent to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid urging the Senate leaders to replace a procedural motion that requires a three-fifths approval with a simple majority vote on the Iran Deal.

"Today we remember the innocent American lives that were lost in a cowardly act of hatred. We pray for them and their loved ones. From the passengers on Flight 93 to the brave men and women in uniform who remain abroad, the United States has defied those who attempted to break our spirit."

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) today signed a letter to House leadership stating that he will not support a government funding bill that contains funding for Planned Parenthood.

The letter, authored by Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.), was sent to Speaker of the House John Boehner, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Majority Whip Steve Scalise.

BURLESON, TEXAS – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Austin) today honored a disabled veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Hal Cleveland, by acknowledging his service and presiding over the installation of a new roof on his house which was donated by a local roofing company.

"Mr. Cleveland is an American hero, and his numerous tours of duty and accolades illustrate that," said Williams. "Many of us have not given what he has, so we are here to thank him for his service and show him our appreciation for his commitment to the community, Texas and the United States."

AUSTIN, TEXAS – During a constituent meeting at Grumps Burgers in Burleson this week, Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) presented a framed American flag to Operation Hero Guard – a group of armed citizens who have stood post at U.S. military recruiting offices in Johnson County after an attack on a U.S. military recruiting station in Chattanooga, Tenn. that killed four marines and a sailor.

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Congressman Roger Williams (R-Texas) today met with the Austin Area Life Affirming Coalition board members and Austin Pregnancy Resource Center (APRC) staff to discuss women's health issues and how to protect the sanctity of life.

"Organizations like APRC are what lawmakers should be rooting for," said Williams. "Instead, Congress has awarded more than $500 million a year to an organization that actually alters abortion procedures to harvest fetal parts. Not only is this illegal under federal law, it is morally reprehensible.
