The current debate between socialism versus capitalism is not merely about two economic ideas: it's about freedom itself.
I recently had the privilege of speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) to discuss the inherent danger socialism poses to our economy. I joined thousands of fellow patriots who believe that America is exceptional because of our freedom and we are, without a doubt, the greatest nation on earth.
Jamie Willis made headlines in December for his efforts to collect discarded Christmas trees to use to make canes for veterans through his organization Canes for Veterans Central Texas.
The community responded in a big way, with more than 1,000 trees being donated to Willis by the first week of 2020. With this many trees, Willis made a goal of making 1,000 canes in the year 2020.
Since then, Willis and his team of volunteers have been steadily working towards that goal.

On this Valentine's Day, I had the opportunity to deliver cards from students across Cleburne Independent School District to veterans at the Fort Worth VA Clinic. I'm proud to partner with our schools to show appreciation for the heroism of our veterans, and I want to thank each student who participated this year. These cards are a small token of our gratitude for their service and I know they were greatly appreciated.
Cleburne ISD students from several campuses have been working on a special project to help those who served our nation in the armed forces "feel the love" on Valentine's Day.
Students from Adams, Gerard, Santa Fe and Irving elementary schools, along with those from Cleburne High School and TEAM School, are participants in the Valentines for Veterans project in partnership with U.S. Rep. Roger Williams, R-Austin.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX-25) tonight praised President Donald Trump's third State of the Union Address:
One of the promises I made when I came to Congress was to always stand with Israel. The bond between our two nations and people is precious, and I believe they are one of our greatest allies in the world.
This week, President Trump strengthened our commitment to Israel by introducing a Middle East peace plan that provides the basis for historic progress toward peace in the region. Under the plan, Israel's security will be fully protected as Jerusalem's Holy Sites are safeguarded and the freedom of worship is guaranteed for Jews, Christians, Muslims, and people of all faiths.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." In the Declaration of Independence, our Founding Fathers asserted that life is an unalienable right, formed in the image of our Creator. I wholeheartedly agree and believe that every child is a gift from God.
