Dear Friends,
Last week I traveled across the 25th Congressional District of Texas, and am happy to report that I was able to complete our summer tour of all 13 counties. Here are some highlights from the past week:
Last month, the most catastrophic hurricane in history hit the Texas Coast, and its aftermath destroyed entire communities. Over the past five years, there has been a sharp nine percent drop in flood coverage in Houston, primarily due to the unaffordable state of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Because the Program is financially out-of-reach for so many Americans, far too many of the affected homes in Texas have no financial backup and will be forced to pay out-of-pocket for damages, or worse, be forced to sell.

On Sept. 18, 1942, then-Camp Hood opened up as a tank destroyer training camp in response to the German tanks of World War II.
Three-quarters of a century later, the post is home to III Armored Corps and is the only Army installation capable of hosting two armored divisions.
Community leaders, state representatives and retired Army generals joined senior leaders of Fort Hood at the Army post's Club Hood on Monday, celebrating 75 years as the nation's premier military installation.
Congressman Roger Williams made a trip to the National Guard Armory in Stephenville to thank members of the Army National Guard for their bravery during Hurricane Harvey.
The unit was the first on scene in Houston to begin rescue missions.
"I just want you to know from your member of Congress and your President, you're appreciated and loved," Williams said. "And I just want to thank you."
Williams is the representative for the 25th Congressional District of Texas.
Representing Fort Hood – one of the largest military bases in the world – is the greatest honor I have as the Representative of Texas' 25th Congressional District. Known as ‘The Great Place,' it is the gold standard for the U.S. Army. It is composed of some of the bravest and most selfless people we have in this country. These men and women are not only an asset to Central Texas, they are vital to achieving the United States' national security strategy.
