We are back in Washington this week after the conclusion of the August district work period. I'd like to take a moment to share with you what my team and I have been up to:

In the past five weeks, we have crisscrossed the 13 counties in our district - from Tarrant County in the north, down to Hays County in the south - which includes much of the Texas Hill Country and Austin. The August District Work Period is my favorite time of the year because I get to go back to Texas and meet with our constituents to discuss what is important to you all.

Hurricane Harvey is one of the most catastrophic hurricanes to ever hit the Texas coast. Our friends and families in Southeast Texas are struggling due to storm damage and flooding that continues to devastate homes, properties, and entire communities. I applaud President Donald Trump for his swift action by promptly signing a disaster declaration at the request of Governor Greg Abbott. This will provide any and all emergency protective measures to be made available to those impacted by the hurricane.
