WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin), who serves as a vice chair on the House Committee on Financial Services, released the following statement today after the House passed H.R. 2874, the 21st Century Flood Reform Act, that reauthorizes the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) for five years:

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin), who represents Fort Hood, one of the largest United States military installations in the world, and served on the National Defense and Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference Committee, voted in favor of H.R. 2810, the NDAA for Fiscal Year 2018, that passed the House today.

On Friday, Nov. 10, the day before Veterans Day, Somervell County honored its military veterans at an assembly with Glen Rose ISD students and area residents — an event that featured Congressman Roger Williams overseeing the special recognition and appreciation given to local Vietnam-era veterans.


Somervell County veterans who were active during the Vietnam War Era were eligible to be honored with a certificate and a medallion marking the nation's 50th anniversary of that war.

WASHINGTON — Austin Rep. Roger Williams awoke to the sounds of gunshots down the hallway of his Washington apartment building on a recent fall night.

He waited, his heart racing, certain that authorities would soon arrive.

They didn't. It was just a dream.

Five months after a gunman opened fire on a group of House Republicans during a morning baseball practice, critically wounding Majority Whip Steve Scalise, Williams is among those still dealing with the aftermath of a life interrupted by violence.

Roger Williams, R–Austin, coach of the Republican Congressional Baseball Team, and his legislative assistant, Zack Barth of Houston, received a Medal of Merit Thursday from the U.S. Capitol Police in connection with the June 14 shooting at a team practice in suburban Virginia.
